IPL Team History

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has seen various teams come and go since its inception in 2008. Currently, there are 10 teams competing in the tournament, each representing different cities or states in India.

The most successful teams in IPL history are Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, both having won the title 5 times. Kolkata Knight Riders have won it twice, while Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Gujarat Titans have each won once.

Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants are yet to win the tournament, with RCB being the most notable for reaching the finals three times without securing the trophy.

The IPL has also seen teams like Deccan Chargers, Pune Warriors India, Rising Pune Supergiant, Gujarat Lions, and Kochi Tuskers Kerala, which are no longer part of the league.
